About us
Calm, careful information about ADHD
ADHD Explained exists to make understanding ADHD and ADD feel less overwhelming — with honest, well-sourced information and a course designed for how ADHD brains learn.
We’re an independent UK education project. We’re not a clinic, and we don’t diagnose or treat anyone. Our job is to explain clearly and point you to trustworthy sources and services.

How we write and check
Sourced
Health information is checked against the NHS, NICE guideline NG87, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, GOV.UK and Acas. Every guide lists numbered sources, and we prefer primary UK guidance over opinion.
Honest
No miracle claims, no invented statistics, no fake reviews or testimonials and no countdown pressure. Where evidence is limited or developing, we say so plainly.
Reviewed and dated
Each guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise content when guidance changes. Independent clinical review is being arranged; until then, guides are marked “Clinical review: pending”.
Transparent about AI
We use AI tools to help with drafting, and every page is checked by a person before it is published. Our photos are licensed stock photography from Pexels, with every photographer credited in our image credits.

How we talk about ADHD
We use “ADHD” as the clinical term and explain “ADD” where people use it. We try to describe experiences rather than label people, and we recognise that some people see ADHD as a difference, some as a disability, and many as both. We write in British English, with UK services in mind — and we point out where things differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
